Noisy freewheel

Turn the bike onto its left hand side and support it so that the
pedal and the rear wheel are clear of the ground. Pedal gently
backwards and dribble some 3in1 oil into the gap between the sprocket
and the body of the freewheel - continue for about 2 minuets. Leave
the bike in this position while you have a cuppa or something
stronger if that takes your fancy.

Wipe off any spare and visible oil.

It will now work and be silent.

So does the carbon framed Tifosi (IIRC) I shared a train and ferry with over
the weekend. You could hear it over the idling of the train and general
kerfuffle in Holyhead station as the owner cycled off along the platform.

I thought of going up to him and suggest that he got a nice quiet Shimano
one as there was obviously something wrong with his, but thought better of
it.

Also, I've not cycled onto the Stena line ferry, but presumably he'd filter
off from the foot passenger checkin to ride on up the car ramp.

I regretted travelling as a foot passenger when I got back to Wales on
Sunday night and it looked glorious for a ride across Anglesey, though.
