Richard G. said:Took a trip up to Inverpolly last week, my first time in this area and
hopefully not the last.Day 1.
Arrived in Inverness on the Caledonian sleeper and drove across to Ullapool
and then up to Loch Buine Mhoir, where we put into the water in canoes.
Across Boat Bay and into Loch Sionascaig we camped on Eilean Mor for the
night.Day 2.
Paddled down Loch Sionascaig and pulled the canoes up the river into Lochan
Gainmheich. Made camp on the shore before paddling round to Loch an Doire
Dhuibh and a swift walk up Stac Pollaidh.Day 3.
Rafted a couple of canoes together, made a sail and had a sail along Loch an
Doire Dhuibh in the morning. Had a stroll up to Lochan Dearg a'Chuil Mhoir
on Cul Mor in the afternoon, weather warm enough for a little dip in the
water.Day 4.
Back down the river into Loch Sionascaig and paddled up into the furthest
north inlet before a portage into Loch a'Ghille. Paddled up Loch a'Ghille
before another portage to Fionn Loch. Paddled down Fionn Loch and made a
camp just before Loch Veyatie. Absolutely exhausting day!Day 5.
Climbed Suilven (Caisteal Liath only) and back to camp at Fionn Loch. A bit
cloudy on the very top of Suilven, which was a shame as the weather had been
near perfect for the last 4 days.Day 6.
Weather was grim today. Pulled the boats up into Loch Veyatie, rafted them
together and sailed almost all the way to Elphin before the wind got up too
much. Hitched back to Loch Buine Moire to pick-up the truck and back down to
Ullapool for a welcome shower and a nice bit of music in the Ferry Boat Inn.All in all an excellent trip. Weather really was superb and enough breeze to
keep the midgies down. Ticks were in abundance, but just hatching, so lots
of very small ones, only nasty moment was removing a little fat one from my
brother-in-laws left buttock!!Few photo's posted

Wow!
As someone who has never done the canoe bit - but would love to try it -
that looks absolutely superb! Glenmore Lodge do a similar trip - I must
find out when and how much.
