  1. I want to ask a favor of all of you. I finished reading the book “The Race” authored by Dave Shields last night. The read was quick. Right from the first paragraph, it has you. Imagine…….. Cresting a long crank, coming over the top, raising your hands over your head and soaking up the clean air only to look forward to an EPIC down hill. It is non-stop, insider knowledge in to the TDF, with a great story to follow.

Here are some of the reviews

The favor is this. I have had the pleasure to talk with the author on more than one occasion. This is his first book and I must say again, a job well done. The book has not been released yet, but he has offered the ability to get an early signed copy through the address at the bottom of my post. I would ask that all of you get in on this. If not for the amazing story, but to support a fellow cycling fanatic, trying to get his book off the ground.

Believe me, you will not regret this purchase.

It does look very good. Hope to read it soon. I wasn't a fan of Lance Armstrong's second book though... I thought it was basically a short and uninspiring reiteration of his first (and excellent) book.

  6. Amazon began shipping copies of "The Race" today at a 30% discount ($10.47), plus it's eligible for free shipping. I don't know how they are doing it, but they are selling for far cheaper than I can. Learn more at http://www.DaveShields.com/purchase.html

  7. We've just gone into our third printing of "The Race." I'm begining a book tour this weekend at the Quad Cities Criterium that will culminate in an 18 city sprint around the northeast. Please take a look at the schedule (http://www.DaveShields.com/AuthorTour.html). If I'm in your area I hope you'll drop by and say, "Hi." The presence of you and other cyclists, whether you buy my book or not, will signal to these major bookstore chains that cycling is a niche worth supporting. That will go a long way to introducing new fans and participants to the sport. Besides that, I'd love to meet you.

I happened to have met Dave at the Wachovia race in Trenton, NJ and I have a signed copy. I loved the book. I was always curious as to the politics of a pro cycling team at the TdF. Dave, you treated me like a friend, not just a potential customer. I found that very refreshing. I wish you much continued success and anxiously await the sequel.

    Best Regards,

    Brian J.

  10. what is Lance's new book?...I just started reading "It's not about the bike, My Journey back to life" am loving it so far.

  11. Thanks Brian,
I love doing those events and meeting all the cycling fans, though I wish I could have found some time to watch the race while I was there. Thanks for taking a chance on my book, and I'm glad you liked it. The sequel will be out next April, so I hope you'll look for it.

Lance's second book is called Every Second Counts. It's a great read that I highly recommend.
