Took my bike to the LBS to get the front caliper of my hayes hydro disk brakes replaced. They said 4 days, its been 3 weeks. First a delay in getting the caliper, now a delay in getting the bushings. The caliper is installed, but the bushing is holding up the bleed process. They did offer me a loaner and have been very apologetic for the string of delays, but do you guys think I should go rescue my bike and try another shop? I'm a newb so I dont know if this is outrageous or something that just happens sometimes.

is there some reason they can't get those parts? ask lots of questions. find out exactly what they are trying to get and see if you can find them on the Internet - maybe the parts are out of stock everywhere. But since they are offering you loaners, it sounds like they are doing everything possible.
I would see if there sneeking your bike out the back door and racing it locally,but for real if they cant come thru in a timley manner with this item then get that bike and take it somewhere else!

This does happen, especially at smaller bike shops. Parts are limited. The bigger shops can afford to carry spare parts in stock. It's really expensive to try to carry all the parts you could ever really need. A general rule of thumb is when you need parts replaced that are not the whole component have them get it in first, or go to a bigger bike shop, bigger can also mean a small shop tha's been around a long time. Again spare parts are limited and the ones who know someone or have money get hte parts. Sounds like they are trying to help.
