I used some of you posters' advice and tried the Ebay Sniping website. Worked like a charm. got a 2001 Merlin Titanium road bike frame with carbon fork for $480. Used the sniping website to steal it in the last 10 seconds right out from under 2 guys battling for it in the last 5 minutes. I figured i lost a sweet Colnago Dream frame that way, i might as well give it a try. Worked Great!

Be sure to post some pics once you get it built up!
Auction sniping is where you enter the details of the auction into a tool which then bids, automaticaly and on your behalf, at the very last second. At least I think so. Just google it.

exactly. This way, it basically allows you to bid "in the last second" days before the auction is actually up. It means you dont have to be present and watch the item to the end and it doesnt drive the price up.

Hope you have as much fun building it as I did with my ebay win. I scored a Merlin Lunaris frame and built it entirely from ebay components and accessories. Just finished on the weekend. I was scared to ride it and didn't go over 30kmph for the first 30mins.

I only bid on NIB auctions and contacted the sellers to confirm that all items were new.

You didn't steal it, you just had a higher bid. You were willing to pay more for it. Those other guys showed their hands. Plus, they don't know how to bid.
I like to snipe the old fashioned way......manually.........
Remember, you can still lose while sniping if someone else has a higher proxy bid. However, most people don't put the absolute highest they're willing to spend.....they want to play games....so they lose...
Congrats....they never knew what hit 'em..........
well i finally got the frame in today and its great shape. Even better than i had hoped. Took it into the shop that has all my components still boxed and they're gonna put it together for me. Should have it back by Thursday.

Hey! That should have been my frame...! Just kidding. Congrats, I'm currently enjoying my last-second-bid Pinarello Opera frame very much. I am yet to be dissapointed by ebay.

I won a nice frame on Ebay a couple months ago. It's a 13.5" Gunnar Rockhound. I had been looking around for a nice steel mtn bike frame to replace my aluminum frame. I hadn't even considered Gunnar (but I thought they were very nice frames), as I didn't think they made a frame that small. I just put in my max bid of $202 and I won it! It's very nice, a dark green. It rides so nice, I feel like I'm a better rider now!
