  1. What supps are you taking?

Ive been taling one Centrum Silver, plus one anti-oxident combo cap, 2
lecithin caps (i see I need more and need to switch to the granules) 1
DHEA, 1 chromium piccolinate. May need more of that, too-- gotta check
the number of mg's in mine/the amount Atkins reccomends. Since he refers
to it as "The dieter's best friend", this one must be pretty important.

How much DHEA? I take 50 to 100 mg.
It's good for the libido amoung other things. <G>

One of my MD nutrition Gurus switched me from Centrum to Solgar VM-75.
    It's much higher in B-complex.

Would not hurt to supplement a good cal/mag/phos mineral supplement
separately, along with a trace mineral. Since you will be eating fewer
root veggies, you may come up short on trace minerals and "Natures Plus"
makes an excellent one that is inexpensive.

Chromium picolinate helps to regulate BG levels.
I may have to seriously consider adding that one back myself!
    That and vanadium (Vanadyl sulfate).

    Cheers!

Ive been taling one Centrum Silver, plus ...

I try to get a generic that's marked "Compare
with Theragram-M" to beat the Centrum line.

I add these for stuff too big to fit in a multi:

    fish oil 1000mg, C 500mg, 3 of cal/mag/zinc 333mg
and I use Lite Salt for potassium

I add these because I'm male in my 40s and my dad
had prostate surgery in his 50s - 50mg zinc, B6

Per my doc - coated baby aspirin, one prescription

Generally - a good multi, stuff that won't fit in
a multi, stuff that's specific to family medical
history, stuff that's specific to my medical history.

  4. oh yeah, fish oil. Im taking that, too--two caps daily.

good idea on the extra C and trace mins, too.

  5. If she's going to switch to lecithin granules, she'll get plenty of
phosphorus so won't need them in another supplement.

For my daily intake I keep it sorta simple:

    2000mg odourless fish oil
2000mg Evening Primrose Oil with Vitamin E
1 slow release mega multivitamin & mineral tablet that pretty much matches
    the ones recommended in DANDR
10g of 'Joint Food' powder (Glucosamine, Chondroitin, Vitamin C, Potassium,
    Manganese & Zinc)

Most of mine are aimed at alleviating osteoarthritis & PMS, but some work in
    well with DANDR recomendations.

  7. I'm still reading Atkins Vita-Nutrient Solution. guaranteed to have you
popping vitamins & eating your salad as you read.

The biggest thing learned is that multivitamins are best- if you take 1
nutrient that should be taken in a complex, your going to upset the apple
cart- so be careful. The B complex is a prime example. So is calcium- you
    need more magnesium than calcium.

    Indeed...
    Balance is important!
That is why I like the Solgar multi.
It's high in B-complex and has a good balance
    of the other vitamins.

For a multi-mineral, the balance of Calcium/Magnesium/Phosphorous is
critical. I learned that when doing rehabbing.

If a baby bird does not get a proper mineral balance, their metabolic
rate is so incredibly high they will end up with deformed bones and
    feathers.

There is a nest of baby house wrens out back right now in one of the
Gourd houses I hung up. :-) Their rate of development is phenomenal!

Maybe we should all eat bugs. <lol>

    Indeed!!! ;-D

You want to have some fun sometime, do a google search for insect
    recipes:

    I think I'll pass thanks... ;-p

The only bugs I'll eat are shrimps, crabs, lobsters and crawfish!

Maybe I'll leave those to my dog. He seems to enjoy chasing
down little critters and I don't want to spoil his fun ;^)

Insect shells are made of chiton. You can find chiton in
some "carb blocker" tablets. It's an insoluble fiber. I
think I'll stick with veggies (and the occasional bite from
a shrimp shell that didn't get completely removed).

More magnesium than calcium? There are mixed opinions on
that. Cal/Mag and Cal/Mag/Zinc tablets are supposed to
have them in the right ratios and most of those tablets
have at least twice as much calcium as magnesium. The
ones with the opposite ratio of twice as much magnesium
    are a specialty item.

Mushrooms as well, wierdly - it's why they don't cook to a mush.

  15. Dr Atkins writes in the VITA-NUTRIENT SOLUTION" when the amount of magnesium
in the bloodstream falls, the kidneys readjust the balance by holding on to
less calcium. When magnesium's concentration rises, the kidneys secrete less
    calcium"

Before you go run down for more supplements-balance still is important. You
can over do it. He writes that if you want to supplement magnesium- a safe
way is to take a Epsom Salt bath- your body will only absorb what it
    needs-Cool!
