I have a Cateye 7 wireless computer for my road bike and there's a spot on one of the road's that I regularly ride, that always causes my speed reading (and thus my max speed) to read 70.9 miles per hour everytime I pass by.
This road is in the S.F. Bay Area, on a road called Woodside Rd. The road is sparsely populated with houses. Mostly just trees line this road. But, there is one area in particular that always and consistently causes my computer to go haywire. There is a large house nearby, but its at least 100 feet or more from the road. I was thinking there may be a wireless computer network or something emiting interference.
Has anybody else ever had a problem like this (that's mysteriously repeatable) on the road somewhere?
I have had exactly the same problem with my cateye 7 in Cheshire, England. The road is a rural lane that leads from a golf club up to a small climb. It happens in exactly the same small stretch of the road everytime.
The hill does have 2 masts on the top. I don't know what they are kicking out but I wondered whether this had anything to do with it.

I wonder if the two masts on the hill are radio transmitters? I think that electromagnetic interference would cause this problem. Where my problem occurs, the area is so thick with trees that its hard to see any objects that may cause interference from the road.
Yesterday I stopped my bike at this spot and walked around and my speedo was going crazy - jumping from 9mph to 60 to 70 to 45. It makes me want to try another brand of computer, since I'm always losing my max speed reading (which I like to record in a log book for each ride).

got a place where my polar heartrate monitor always freaks : overhead power cables but my sigma doesn´t . Never had the problem with the shimano computer except just before the battery quits .
