The woodhead side is rather a busy road. Where are you coming from? An extra hour up the M6 could
get you many nasty hills.

Leave Holmfirth on the A6024. The junction with the A628 isn't nice if you're making a right turn.
But if you do go right after about a couple of miles turn left on the B6105 toward Glossop. Then
either get the A57 toward sheffield or go on the 624 to Hayfield and enjoy the delights of Winats
Pass. In either case you can turn north before Sheefield through the Bradfields and back to
Holmfirth. These are some of the roads used in the CTC "Phil and Friends" ride Aug 17 www.ctc.org.uk

The other replies give you some details of how to find it. The Yorkshire side is harder than the
Derbyshire but I clocked 49mph on the descent of the Derbyshire side many years ago. The road was
closed in between ascents of the Leeds Classic.

From where I live to Huddersfield, Holmefirth over Woodhead and back home is a nice if not hard 60
mile round trip, I may even do it this weekend.
