You can only see your own Brocken Spectre. Two people standing side by side
will see one each. Two people standing behind each other will see just one.

It certainly looks like you can see both shadows in the second
example.

The second example also illustrates that while you see both Brocken
spectres, only your own one produces a glory, not your companion's.

Not corect. The Brocken spectre is just the shadow so two people will
see two but only one will have the glory which is which is the rainbow
effect caused by the sun reflecting off the water droplets.

I saw some gorgeous Brocken Spectres on Crib Goch at the weekend, and I
can confirm what Phil says.

If there are two of you close together, you see two shadows, but the glory
(circular rainbow) will be centred on the shadow of your own head.

My experience is that if there are two together, each sees only their own
untill very close when the two merge.
Strange story -I met someone on a Wicklow Hill recently who turned out to
be from the Hartz Mts region and he had never heard of the Brocken Spectre!!

That's not my experience. I've seen more than one Brocken spectre when
I've been standing with a few friends. See also Graham's pictures
mentioned earlier in the thread.

You do only see one glory, however, centred on your own Brocken spectre.
