What do people consider a realistic, "good" average walking speed? All
the OS walking books and mags like Country Walking seem to have been
assessed by people who walk twice as fast as we do :-(

For long hill walks I usually reckon on 2mph including stops - seems
to work out about right. I've heard of people who can walk 5mph, but
that's a slow jog for me. Comfortable, flat walks, say 3mph and you
    won't be far out.
