Botero is clearnly the better man right now. Also, Jan looks strong in
his start of the Tour of Switzerland. It will be a great TdF this year.

yeah, but given that the "meat" of the tour is more than a month away,
and Botero has had this form since Romandie, I don't see him being the
leader. Jan does look strong, right on track. So does Lance though.

Also, Botero is famous for having one famously bad stage in each Tour.
Ironically, his last one was on Mt. Ventoux a few years back where he lost
15 minutes and fell from contention.

This is the likely situation. Botero will contend for a few stages, but
Phonak would be wise to protect both riders until Botero falters.

This is the likely situation. Botero will contend for a few stages, but
Phonak would be wise to protect both riders until Botero falters.

Botero's already placed 4th, 7th, and 8th in the Tour, so a possible
top-5 for him isn't much of a stretch. He's already taken the most
important step: getting himself out of a T-Mobile jersey. (Or is it
getting his formerly fat butt out of T-Mobile bibs? Whatever.)

Phonak will protect both of them until the road goes uphill and they
see what happens. Phonak doesn't have the burden to take the lead in
pace-setting and working, unless one of them gets the yellow jersey
early and keeps it - which actually could happen since the initial TT
is 19 km. The extra length will make it harder for sprinters to take
the MJ via bonus seconds.

Yeah, I see someone like Leipheimer or Botero winning the opener. I
think Leipheimer needs to show his team he's worth working for in the
TTT. I see him going close to the win, hopefully getting the full
backing of his team in the TTT. He could have yellow for a few days
but I think he won't climb with the best. It's Botero or Leipheimer's
only chance to get yellow. That's a pretty stupid statement...add
McGee and Rogers to the list of guys that will really want to win that
stage.

Mr. Chung, can you make us a nifty graph predicting the volume of
messages in r.b.r over the next month?
