In a later installment we'll play "What could the American government have bought instead of a 200bn dollar war". A game that continues to get more absurd as the cost keeps skyrocketing. For starters you could buy all of Yahoo and Google and have enough left over to pay the college tuition of every low-income student in the US for 2 years.
I've been under the impression that the US provides essentially free education up to any level you desire. Am I wrong?
Very wrong. You can get low interest rate loans, some grants. The average debt is about $17,000 -$20,000 upon graduation. In addition to this debt, students pay thousands while enrolled.
