If only it was an F1 car.......

I live in Beloit, Wisconsin which is where she was born. It is just north a couple of miles from her home town. I use to work with her uncle Randy Patrick. She is the real deal!! She is very goal driven and works her ass off. Yes, she is good looking and boy can she drive. She has proven herself to everybody who didn't know who she was and questioned her abilities. She is a competitor and doesn't like losing. If you seen her qualifying run and when they told her they were not going to take another shot at the pole she was not happy. Yet it was the fourth fastest run and her first time at Indy. She knew she had a car that could have been on the pole and when it didn't, she still wanted it. Now that's a passion and determination. She will be a great one to watch.

Jeez you guys would get serious beatings over here!!!! Our girls take being singled out because they beat a few men as insulting! In what way would a Female be disadvantaged in motor racing? I know woman are a minority in that sport but so what? The only reason she is getting great publicity is because she has a great rack (and can drive abit also).

i like to see females in motorsport...just as long as reverse parking or map reading doesnt enter in the Indy 500 then theyve just as good a chance as the men...mind you the Indy 500 track isnt exactly challenging...we discussed this before with the Nascar thread...

perhaps women should just stick to handing out the trophies and champagne at the end...they are good at that...

Maybe you need to reread my post!! It has nothing to do with her sex,period!!
I was just stating that I am from the same area she is from and have been following her driving since she was driving go-carts. What the hell does that have to do with sexism? I am proud of what she has done and if it was a male from my area I would have still written a post about him and been proud of that too. Sexism my ass you don't know [censored] about this girl!! She can flat out drive so what if she is good looking. I never said anything negative about her looks as being the reason why she is in an Indy car, because I know it's because she can drive it, not look good in it!!

I agree with most of what you say here, but I am a man with about 8% BF and my rack is a bit larger than hers...

How many compete?... that is his and your point I assume. She is not special because she is the next Senna or Schumaker, but because she is an above average driver who happens to be a woman.

She did real well , but so did Sarah Fisher some years ago and she just vanished off the map : American sponsers don´t seem to want to put women in competative cars .
Don´t rush Danica into a formular one car , it´s a big rough world that´s really like mothers eating their young - remember how badly michael andretti did a few years ago -
try and get a testing contract with one of the big teams ,but that will mean living and racing all season in europe ( GP2 , Lemans , GT cars even touring cars just to learn the circuits and show your stuff - one race won´t get you anywhere I´m afraid )

I admit I am extremely biased...I grew up 45 minutes from Indy and have gone to 15 or so 500's....with that stated...what's the big deal about F1??? I watch it every week there is a race on the Speed Channel and keep up on the news on the net. However, it is as much fun to watch as working out in the yard. Monaco was dreadfully boring. A bunch of million dollar cars following each other around the track. At least at Indy there is passing going into and frequently in the middle of the turns, not to mention it is at 220mph. I realize that at Indy overtaking another car is about pure speed, and you won't often hear an announcer say "what a great pass that was", but it takes precision all the way around the track to maintain that speed. One bobble and they scrub off speed and any chance of passing the next car....The best thing about F1 this year is Ferrari not winning every (any) race...at least there is some doubt as to who is going to win. (I realize there are many F1 zealots out there and this will draw some flak...)
...and about Dannica....very good looking. Knowing she a racer adds to her appeal....Keep her in the IRL!
..also, Sarah Fisher never did "real well".....she could get a car qualified, she crashed out of the race every year she drove

Man are you guys running with the ball! Every man to his own taste but I'd say she's no more than slightly better looking than average.

She did win many of my friends and myself over with here excellent and very professional driving. At last, after many years, we have a women in Indy racing who is "going for broke" and really out to win, not just finish.(like Lynn St. James) Many of us found ourselves rooting for her on race day.

While we're on the subject let's remember Desiree Wilson who had several top ten finishes in Indy cars and WON a formula one race! With all the hype about women drivers how did the most sucessfull one in history get forgotten?

Women need to be kept out of the motorsport industry at all costs...

calm down...i am not being sexist, its just not a natual job for women to drive cars...their arses are the wrong shape and their knockers get in the way of the steering wheel...they have no sense of direction (not a problem in the Indy/NASCAR circuits where all you have to do is press the gas and turn left the whole time) and they have no spatial awareness. They cant tell if the car in front is 20 metres away or 40 metres away. They dont know which gear to use not how to apply the brakes properly.

They should be kept away from complicated machines at all times...the problem with women is that they drive a car as if they are using a washing machine or a microwave oven. They get in a car and press a few buttons, pull a few switches and the car moves, thats all they care about. To be a good driver you have to know how a clutch, accellerator and brakes actually work. You dont need to know how a microwave works to cook a meal...

there is no way that a woman, any woman, could ever compete with the likes of Schumacher or Sebastien Loeb.

women have a very simplistic view of technology..."a box with buttons that does stuff"... end of story...it doesnt matter if it is a DVD player, a computer or a car...what more do they need to know.

stick to dishing out the champagne and trophies love and let the men drive the machines.

You all look a bit skeptical...let me illustrate the point..

take your wife/burd/partner out into the driveway tonight, pop the hood of your car and say
'okay sweetheart, the clutch plate needs replacing, here's a socket set and a couple of spanners. I'll be upstairs vaccuuming the bedroom'
and watch the expression in her face...

while shes wrecking your car you can make a lovely job of the carpet...

later that night ask her...
'darling, how does the 8 bit analogue to digital converter work in our DVD player..? or how about the video demodulator...give me a brief description of its component parts?..

more blank expressions...

in the morning while making coffee ask her,
'babe, whats the big thing in the microwave that produces the high energy microware radiation required to cook the food?'

or you could ask her..
'the induction transformer in the microwave is producing too high a voltage on its secondary side...can you please measure it for me.?'
hand her a multimeter and a chisel and see which one she uses...
