  1. I was walking past Blacks this morning, and in the window is a 'Folding
Alpine Spoon'. How does a spoon become an alpine spoon?

It only goes to show that you can fool some of the people some of the
    time.

Just a second, the more I think about it the more I think I might need
one. Would Ray Mears use one? I think I'll just pop down the road and
see if there are any left.............

By making it out of titanium and charging you a fiver for it! ;-)

Nah, he'd carve one for lunch, then another for tea time.

I remember looking in Millets in Romford at a knife/fork/spoon set which
came in a nice fabric zip-up carry case. Trouble was there was no zipper on
the zip itself so you couldn't get the eating tools out!
I pointed this out to the shop guy who just sighed and muttered something
like 'Oh, not another set like that...' then grabbed the offending item and
    lobbed it in the storeroom!!!

Ah, fond memories of Milletts :-)

Theres a thought, the Millets in Dundee seems to still exist as does the For
    Sale sign above the shop.
Is Millets shutting down or has the Estate Agent put up a "Retail Unit for
Sale" sign up by mistake for selling the office space above?

The one in Birmingham is still going strong. It's not a bad shop,
particularly at the cheaper end of the scale. I got two pairs of very good
Hi Tec boots there, last summer, for a couple of teenagers.

How extremely cool! They do barter, then?

    :-)

    Best wishes,

Now that would have been a really good idea! And if they'd have thrown a
spoon, or two, in as well it would have been magic!

Only a fiver? Sounds like a bargain!
