I've done a lot of cycle-touring (around North America, Europe and the Middle East), as well as cycle commuting. I swear by a leather saddle. The advantage of leather is it eventually fits you (like a good pair of boots). There is a pretty uncomfortable breaking in period, though! You can still get leather saddles in some decent bike shops. The brand I have is a Brooks.

I shop regulary at Runners World and they allowed me to try a couple today. Amongst them was the Fiz:it pave...uncomfortable and have settled for something that has cost quite a bit less, a VELO pronto ZTT. Very comfortable on rear end and hip pocket. Thanks for the try before you buy advice they were more than willing.😄

Its normally consists of into W.Perth where I work, via Alexander drive but the return trip is done where there is less traffic using the cycle path along the freeway back home. 20 Kms in and 27 kms back.

On the weekends I will go for a ride down to the beach then head up north where I meet my transport home (about 50 kms in all), otherwise I have a circuit around the home area which can be depending on which route I take and how I feel, 40-47 kms.

Nothing regular yet. I moved to Perth only 3 months ago. I generally ride around the swan and into the Applecross area or catch a local ride out of South Perth. They very their rides every week, so thats fun.

Yes it is and you are not the first to say that. Keep riding and hope you are liking Perth, although the weather lately has been carp.
