    Om.

Lots of people outside of Texas do very strange things. A friend who lives
in Montana told me that she was cooking beef ribs.... by boiling them.

DH has done that (we're in OK,) boil some of the fat off before BBQing them.
    Perfectly valid method.

My question is: why bother with beef ribs?

They can be quite good if you don't try to boil them. <G>.

  5. I confess I have steamed my ribs before putting them into the BBQ. Saves
time and insures they are going to fall off the bone. I still prefer the
    conventional way if time allows.

  6. I've never had a beef rib that I enjoyed. However, it could be that outside
of TX, people don't know how to cook them properly, or at least the people
    I've run into.

  7. I lived in San Antonio for a while- Carolina's too- so learned the local art
of BBQ. Its all good! About the only thing in common is the horozontal
smoke pit which we full with a good assortment of meats for a crowd.

Beans.....these days is just black soy beans- has anyone tried making sugar
free baked beans yet??? I doubt if anyone else would eat them, but it would
    be nice.

the other dried beans in the cupboard are going to be sprouted, then the
carb count goes down and I can have them.

Have you read up on the enzyme inhibitors and antinutrients that some claim
cause health issues in sprouted large beans?
    http://www.living-foods.com/articles/largebeans.html (and many articles like
it) describe this - although Peary and Peavy dispute many of the
long-accepted claims. Just something to keep in mind 🙂. Although it
destroys the enzymes, I typically cook sprouted beans for my parrots - I
don't like or eat them myself 🙂.

  9. Thanks for the link, Sherry! I have some soybeans sprouting, I'm glad I
didn't soak a lot of them.
