shacking up for almost 10 years now. Part of the cook-in next month will

Minnesota isn't a common-law state, so my trollop status is fully intact.

Thanks. I got a call from the hospital a few minutes ago. We are to
present ourselves at 7:15 tomorrow morning. Crash's daughter and her
mother (she's not the ex-wife) were going to be here tomorrow, but
Kidzilla's aunt is very quickly dying of lung cancer, so they're staying
near here instead.

The surgery itself should take about 2 hours, but when you figure in prep
and recovery time, it'll be a lot longer than that. Note to self: bring a
book!

At this point, they're saying he'll be on the surgical floor for two days,
then transfer to the occupational and physical therapy floor for 4-5 days.
Then they're giving him back to me. 🙂

Oh, he's really enjoying his guest book. Every time he hits Refresh and
finds a new post, he calls me to come and look at it. 🙂

I dunno about your hospital, but ours has areas of fridgid temps. Take a nice
warm long sweater, and a purse you can use as a pillow when you finally nod
off. And lots of change for the coffee and food machines. Been there & done
that.

Thanks for the good advice. I'd forgotten about the frigid zones.
Thankfully, I'm peri-menopausal, and will probably welcome them, but I'll
grab something to put on, just in case.

We're going to WalMart better so I can grab a book to read, and we're
bringing bottled water for Crash to drink. The municipal water here is
absolutely wretched.

I think I'll bring a 12-pack of diet A&W along, too. And a sammich. I
never would have thought about food and beverages, so this is gonna be a
life saver.

When Hag taught me to make them, I think we just boiled the suckers. I
made some that way, and some the traditional way, with browned bottoms and
finishing cooking in chicken broth. The boiled ones taste good, but look
like tripe. The "stuck" ones got too salty, and they did stick to the pan.
Next time, I'm going to try steaming them. That's what Ariane and Hag did
at last year's cook-in. Oh yeah, you were there!

Crash is in the channel, and will be there for most of the evening.

Cool! I am making my potstickers right now, but as soon as I'm done I'll go
visit with him.

I fry and then steam mine, nice and crispy bottoms! Use nonstick pans,
trust me<LOL> Off to whip up some mustard and sesame oil dipping sauce.
Curse Ariane for hooking me on these little [censored], anyway!
