  1. WOW! The transition to low fat low carb has gone pretty good except I'm
running out of low fat protein options. I dont like the low carb
protein shakes as the sweet, thick, filling sensations about make me
gag now so I nibble on protein through out the day. I dont eat mayo,
butter or cheese anymore( i do eat some parmesan). I do eat cottage
cheese, a bit of parmesan cheese. I precook chicken tenderloins (one
fills me up) I do take 1/2 of one and add it with romaine hearts a few
scrapes of fresh parmesan shredded on top and a tablespoon of fat free
Girard's Caesar dressing, I eat Pemmican brand Steak tips ( its is like
beef jerky but cubed)I eat Hormel Turkey pepperoni with 4 gr fat, no
carbs and 40 cals for 9 pieces, I eat egg whites scrambled with a bit
of salsa on them, tuna and a bit of miracle whip on one rye crisp
cracker. I can eat like 4 average sized bites of pork chop and I am
full. Roast beef, meatballs, and coarse burger do not settle. I have
tried smoked tofu and it is ok but I dont care too much for tofu. I
have eaten some soy nuts but they are dry and dont settle well in my
little tummy. I do eat homemade white chicken chili with navy beans and
jalepenos. I eat refried beans.Since protein is dense it fills me up
quick so the carb count in beans is low considering I eat like 1/2 Cup
of beans. I make cabbage soup with ground turkey breast ( an expensive
pot of soup LOL) Low carb is easy but low fat is causing me to think
think think LOL. My snacks are a handful of sunflower seeds tyhat I
crack myself, cauliflower dipped in a bit of sour cream mixed with
Uncle Dans powdered dressing, jerky, a premade tub of unsweetened apple
sauce, a low fat butter spread and sourdough rye wasa bread, a sf fudge
sicle. I dont tolerate the buds of broccoli but do eat the stems, I
love the Vlasic sugar free bread and butter pickles and the tabasco
dills. I eat 3 grapefruit sections (peeled) or maybe 6 mandarin orange
slices that have been rinsed off. I mix sf orange jello with cottage
cheese and ad a few slices of mandarin oranges for a treat too. Except
for the jerky and turkey pepperoni my meats are pure. Any more ideas??
    Thanks

  2. I love shrimp any way it comes but I'm just scared of it. A lot of
people have seafood intolerances after GBS and salmon didnt set well so
just being careful. White fish and tuna has been ok tough. I dont eat
    bivalves though ICK!!!!

I LOVE shrimp! On Friday I sauteed some jumbo shrimp, then mixed it
with some shiritaki noodles, some green onion, 3 oz of cheddar cheese, 2
tbl of parmesan and 1/2 cup alfredo sauce -- it was WONDERFUL! Next
time I think I'll add some broccoli and mushrooms. P.S. It TWO
servings spread over two days. I think I'll use a better quality,
smoother cheese (havarti, maybe) next time, too.

I eat tuna. I can my own white albacore though as once you have your
own you never eat the swill from the can you buy in the grocery stores.
I have eaten a bit of halibut and it settled well but salmon didnt
settle good. Maybe because it is richer and fattier. I haven't touched
    shrimp either.

I eat shrimp (and other crustaceans) as often as I can afford... ;-)

Lately, at least for lunches at work, I've been on a water canned tuna
fix. I just mix it with a bit of mayo and eat it with Clausens dills
    and celery sticks.

Works well and is quick and easy.

Been too busy at work lately to worry much about food anyway. :-P

    Thank goodness for ice water.

2 meals per day if I'm lucky on work days. <sigh>
I can't always even take the time to eat when I'm really hungry!

Hard boiled eggs work well for that scenario too.

Hard to keep calories over 1,000 kc per day.
Might be time to seriously consider shakes.

Refried beans are low fat? I wish I'd known that. I love refried beans
(and can afford some moderate carbs).

Depends on how they are made. Traditional Refried Beans
contained a health dose of Lard which is hardly low-fat.

  8. I buy the 8 pack of Rosarita fat free refired beans at Costco for like
$5. The carbs minus the fiber are like 14 or 15 for 1/2 cup serving I
think. its really minimal in my book for the exchange of getting
    protein in.
