  1. Pro or anyone else...do you know of some good shareware or free programs that you can download that help you create logos? Logos like for a company or some kind of branding?

    I use a combination of some KDE program, Kougar I think it is, and GIMP to post-process the result. Depends on what you are doing I guess.

    I am trying to create a company logo and text for a friend as he is completely illiterate on the comp.

    Not sure I can honestly recommend those tools to someone in a hurry. 🙂

    sharware or free image editing programs are difficult to come accross legally.

    you could always download photoshop from adobe. The new CS version is available for free download but you only get it for 30 days. 330Mb though, i hope you have broadband.

    You always get free programs in magazines, usually there is a logo creator or animator in there...have a browse about you local newsagent.

    or lastly i would suggest you look here.

    That's not true. GIMP doesn't cost you anything for example, and it is easy to get hold of...

    i have never used GIMP...is it any good?

    i always assumed it was for linux only...i see they do a win32 version too now.

    i have always been a photoshop man ever since v3.

    I think it's pretty good, although I haven't heard of any Photoshop junkies migrating to it. Linux ain't too hard to run these days either. Fedora Core makes it pretty simple.
