There's a rather big clue in the domain name - assuming one was brought up watching British children's TV in the 70s and 80s. :-)

The thread title is a bit of a giveaway, too...

Shirley it was:
dum-di dum-di dum-di du-uu-uum di-di-du-uu-uum di-di-du-uu-uum di-du-uum di-d-di-d-du-uu-uum di-di-du-uu-uum...
where the construct "-uu-uu" is intended to convey a single syllable continuing over an implied beat, as it were.

Strictly speaking, I'm too young to remember Vision On - I mostly remember Wilf Lunn from Jigsaw. (Mmmm, Janet Ellis... <sigh>😉
For me, Tony Hart evokes strange dreams of Morph playing russian roulette with Robert De Niro...

I'm plenty old enough, but it's completely lost on me too. I guess it's only for those of a certain age *and* affluence (as in, TV-owning families).

Well, maybe my rendition of it into ASCII is pretty poor. If you think that's bad, you should hear me sunging.
Anyone who cares can listen to the tune here:http://www.culttelly.co.uk/lyrics/leftbank2.mid
