I'm with you on that French journo. He did make some over the top comments - caught up in the passion I guess.

Saw it last night and loved it. The insight you get as to what these guys go through is just awesome. The camera work was just sensational - something you don't get from ordinary tour coverage. Will probably see it again.

Agree with the closing "where are they now" comments - would've like to have been able to read them to.

Where abouts did you go see it is it a public forum or did you snag a personal copy.

Saw it at a public forum. Nova Cinema here in Melbourne are running it at the moment.

Went to see it tonight (sunday) at Nova and it was booked out for teh 7.10 session. Couldn't believe it, there are supposed to be 2 men and a dog around on a Sunday night. 😕

Hmmmm cant see it making it to the illustrious Mt Isa cinema, guess i'll have to wait for the dvd. Now if it was a pig shooting movie there would be flanel as far as the eye can see.

A bunch of us saw it Friday night (we booked tickets that morning!!!). My favourite bit is where Zabel muses about being a pro surfer when faced with the final day in the mountains. I always thought of Zabel as a cool hard-faced cyclist, but he is very human. Perhaps too human and thats what stops him from crossing the line first????

We had two german speakers in our group who did a quick translation (as best they could with the timing) of the end notes in the film. Really want to see it again.

My only complaint: who and what was that small family group following Zabel's camp??? No relation etc was established , they just were there as a bit of a feature... perhaps I missed something????

crossing the line in front of Petacchi in 2003 - sorry was being specific to the movie Carlos.... He has this very interesting little bit of dialogue where he talks about who is gifted and who isn't - he doesn't include himself and I felt there was an undercurrent throughout the whole film that Zabel didn't feel he was good enough. For me it was interesting, because I have always thought of him as full of confidence, and if you are racing the TdF then, you ARE good enough. Guess it's all relative.

Girls in bikinis - nothing wrong with that, just didnt get why the camera was following that trio for part of the film... I was probably beginning to think about going to Koko Black afterwards by that stage 😉

bunch of people working like slaves to set him up for the win,
and he couldn't deliver. The responsibility of that is huge.
If you read through Lance's books, especially "every second counts"
where he's talking about his worries of letting the team down
(in that same tour), you can see another team leader having the
same doubts, even from the bloke who won it.

We're starting to dabble in team riding now (watch this space!)
and when you have people working for you you do feel extra
responsibility.

I enjoyed the more *intimate* look the film provided, beyond the usual interview dialogue available in industry mags, cyclingnews etc with the riders. And you are right Carl, about the responsibility,obligation etc as a team member and lead rider. And at the end of the day, it's just a job, although one these guys (usually!!) love. That's why I particularly liked the bit I mentioned before with Zabel talking about being a pro-surfer. His reaction to the profile map was as if his boss had just handed him some [censored] job for the day! 😄 We all know that feeling ...........

Me too, and only one syringe in sight 🙂 I felt Kloden's
pain when he had to pull out. Bundled into a bus and

We saw it on friday.. Had to wait till 830 and we got the last few seata
(at 6pm)

You're joking, right? The only thing stopping Zabel getting past McGee, Cipo, and Pettachi these days is simply the fact that he's on the verge of retirement. Zabel is arguably one of the greatest sprinters ever to ride a bike. He's got no less than _six_ TdF green jerseys in his collection, from '96, '97, '98, '99, '00, and '01.

_And_ he's a really good bloke, by all accounts, too.

did anyone read between the lines (no pun intended) when Zabel was talking about Tylers stage win....you know, the bit about...."every half hour a bunch of 10 would goup the road after him....take no time out of him...then come back". "I've never seen anything like that"......know put those comments in light of what we now know about Tyler........
