    I just completed a 153 km ride that was very hilly and windy. While I
    suffered, there were people who did quite well. Just for fun, if one is
    interested in how groups performed related to age, have a look at the
    results page sorted by finishing time and age-group:

    I suspect the group with the highest concentration of hard core people
    is the 45-55 group. My experience says it is the same in XC skiing.
