Having been to Durango and having family that lives there my guess is
that a very high % of the population there knows exactly what the Giro
is. It is a pretty extreme town for athleticism and cycling is hihg up
on the list.

Made me pause, too - although I've seen some pretty loose knee caps on
some people. Think he means the back of the knee. Otherwise, I'm
guessing small holes and a Q-tip.

Yeah, I guess they got the wrong broken collarbone.
You could attribute that to just being a small town paper-- but think
about all the fuss caused by a mistake in a recent Newsweek article.

is to read the Herald's "police blotter" Talk about reproting . They
actually list things like "someone appeared to be intoxicated near the
McDonalds on.."

I would assume he meant "distal" rather than "dorsal" when he said
"underneath".

I'll guess that he means "below" the kneecap. There's a fatty pad
between the cap and the bony protrusion on the top front of the tibia, and
it can swell.
