I find that on my 'bent, I seem to be more visible than when on my normal
bike. It's the WTF factor at work, as in the "What the f**k is that?"
There's been only one occasion I've particularly noticed a bus being almost
zero inches behind a 'bent at a red traffic light where I've genuinely felt
that the driver (being so high up) would not be able to see the 'bent in
front (being so low), which caused me any worry - I was of the opinion that
in that partiular instance, if for some reason the 'bent rider failed to
start when the light turned to green, he was in danger of being run-over.

Yeah, that does seem to be a common misconception. IMO they are waay more
visible to other road users, and you don't get forgotten about like often
seems the case on a normal bike.

I've has a secret lust for one of those, but I cant justify two
recumbents. Allright, I could, but I'd be lying more than a politician.

Safer than an upright.

Your principal concern (visibility) is entirely misplaced. I have far
fewer (about 20x fewer) SMIDSY-type incidents riding my Trice (which
is a device with similar layout to the KMX - see
http://www.ice.hpv.co.uk/ where you can even find me in the image
gallery of XL owners) than any 'normal' bike. I ride it in Surrey
rush-hours (I commute on it) without serious problem (it's not so good
for traffic queues - it doesn't filter past queues of cars like a bike
does).

I saw one but didn't try it at my recent session at D.Tek.
Kevin said lots of people have unrealistic expectations and think they
will be getting a Trice equivalent for half the price when actually the
Trice is a lot nicer (at least as a commuting vehicle, which is what I was
there to look at), and that the KMX-X handlebars are scarily near the tyres.
(They do have a little flap thing to give some protection.)

He did encourage me to bring my children to try the junior version.

He's right. The KMX is a fun/sport trike, OK with a set of Stelvios
for the occasional fast lap of your local circuit or maybe a moderate
road ride, but for commuting you want a Trice or a Greenspeed or some
such.

The OP specified fun, and has a SpeedMachine for longer rides. I say:
go for it :-)

Up to a point, Lord Copper. The X-Class has, I believe, 305 front wheels
and some variation on the theme of "twenty-four inch" on the back.
Attempting to fit Stelvios to such items would be an exercise in futility.

Pish and tush! I have ridden the same. Well, OK, there was a Stelvio
on the back, I can't remember what was on the front. I can remember

I got 1600 km out of a pair of Stelvios on the front of the XXL and 2000
from the rear, tyre wear fans.

BTW, is it true you've just acquired a Brompton?

Wheel transplant is standard accessory from KMX. Saves almost 3kg in
weight and gives nice road wheels suitable for Stelvio. The BentOnline
review says the road wheels came with Stelvios.
