I want to buy a bike frame to build a decent road bike but I don't have a $1000 to spend on a frame as the bicycle stores are quoting
me.

There are a number of reasonably priced frames on ebay. There is a company called Leader bike that sells very inexpensive, nice frames. Also, check out www.chucksbikes.com. He has nice inexpesnive frames.
