Out with the club for a gentle trundle tonight (26.5 miles, 17.3 avg. to Pishill and Cookley Green and back). All very nice except that at Bix the p*nct*r* fairy struck. First p*nct*r* on the road for ages - and I found that not only had I brought the wrong spare tube (riding the upwrong, but had the spare for the 'bent) BUT I'd also forgotten my patch kit! Red face time. Luckily this is a CTC ride so a Good Samaritan stepped forward.
(I also forgot my polystyrene foam deflector beanie, which I left at the office having brough home a hired MDG for tomorrow's trip to Birmingham with a server).
I did remember my Slabwear ;-)

LTBALTY only to go out with experienced riders who have all the necessary equipment. Really, if you don't take a spare tube, levers, pump and patches your shouldn't be out on the road at all. You just aren't good enough.
Really, some people. Go and buy a Volvo ;-) ;-)
(ps, I really really hope you realise that was Tongue in Cheek, because I know that someday you'll pass me on a ride and I'd hate to find a bloke on sunlounger-with-wheels trying to stick a chainwheel up my a*s*.)

Trundle? My HRM was already past 170 at Stonor and rose to 185 at Cookley Green. It's one for the personal record books - but not one I aim to crack too often.

Goes to show how unreliable average speed readings are when a few stops are involved. When I arrived at Witchurch Hill where you peeled off mine reckoned 15.6.
