Upon disassembly of the five bolts that attach my chainrings to the crank arms, I note only four shims or washers. So upon reassembly, should I have five? If only four, does it make a difference which bolt goes without? Since I have all four washers/shims in a box and I'm still riding without them, the only thing I notice is some creaking when cranking out of the saddle. But that could be totally unrelated.
So what are these washer / shims for, and do I need them?
