Quoted message said:on my quest to get fitter, healthier and lighter i got myself a bike ... went out on it once,
realised i really was in need of a major overhaul and havent been on it since .... yet ive been
walking and swimming, eating better, etc, etc ... and now its time to get back on and include some
regular riding in the quest ....
what sort of rides are considered beginner rides? - just been having a look at the north
birmingham ctc as im based in new oscott, north birmingham, site details at:-
simonsplace.pwp.blueyonder.co.ukNorthBirminghamCTCOpen ↗
and wondered what 'suitable for beginners' really means ... im going to be going out and testing
what i can actually do and would like to see if its up to 'beginners' standard but need to know
what this really means .... 5, 10, 20, 50 ??? ... roughly how many miles do these rides go for and
at what pace, etc, etc
Hi Doobs...from a fellow Brummie!!!
Best place for you to go I reckon from where you're based is Sutton Park. Take a slow ride down
there, freewheel as much as you can (peice of [censored] from New Oscott), then literally just ride about
in there for half hour or so. It's a great place to ride, you can stick to the paths at first and
when you're ready there's about 100 sq.m of off roading to do in there!!
I also cover many miles on the canal towpaths, but I'm not sure if there's a canal by you. My wife
is very much a beginner, yet she manages a good half hour or more on the towpath before she gets
knackered.
Most important thing to remeber in my opinion, is first and foremost, go at your own pace, don't
worry if you see others flashin by....and secondly, ENJOY it. The only way you'll keept it up is if
you actually look forward to your riding.
Good luck buddy!!
