Pre low-carb I used to eat a lot of fruit because we were told it was so
good for us. But now the only one I eat is avocado, all the rest have too
much sugar. -

I've been searching for fruits to eat. It's been hard to find fruit that

avocados as suggested, and I do like them, but although they are low carb
they are very high in calories and not all that filling.I have a friend who is not very overweight, but still wants to lose. She
told me that she just avoids snacks, starchy foods, and processed sugar
products. She eats for lunch every day a sliced apple with peanut butter.I decided that sounded good, and might make a good breakfast (I prefer to
take most of my carb allowance in the morning). An apple with two
tablespoons of peanut butter is about 250 calories and about 18 net carbs. -
Most berries are low carb and not very sweet.

What you can do is learn to eat 1/2 of a fruit- a lemon or Kiwi size fruit.
figure out how many carbs you want to consume in fruit and weigh the fruit.
So I get to eat more strawberries than orange slices, and less grapes or
pineapple- but nothing is totally forbidden unless you are in induction. I
go for a 5 carb portion (Atkins- power of 5) Weigh your fruit- looks are
deceivingfruit slices and cheddar is a great dessert and stretches out the portion

I don't recall stating I had a problem. I've lost 40 pounds on Atkins, am
comfortable with my size now, and am about ten pounds from what I weighed in
high school and five pounds from college weight.A little over a year ago I stayed on Atkins Induction for two months, and
now am moving from OWL to pre-maintenance. I don't think this is a problem. And yes, calories DO count.

And yes, calories DO count.Yes calories do count. But just try to count them. Counting calories
doesn't work. The entire process involved in counting calories does not
work. When you count calories you tend to want to restrict fats, which
does not lead to weight loss. You need fat in your diet to lose body
fat.The process of counting and/or restricting carbs ends up leading to
eating fewer calories overall so you do not need to concern yourself
with the calorie counts. Why worry about something that has been proven, beyond a doubt, to not
be a practical approach to weight loss like restricting calories.Worry about what has been proven to work, just worry about restricting
the refined and high-GL carbs.TC

I eat mostly berries (straw, wolf, blue), and some black currants, and
avocado, a little kiwi, a little citrus. Most of these are not too
sweet, and, in lesser quantities, have little glycemic load. -

Sure. Those of us who have adopted the low-carb lifestyle know that eating
fewer carbs leads to a decrease in appetite and a lower calorie intake. When we try different foods, though, we want to have all the information
about it we can, and that includes the calorie value. You're saying that on
the one hand, a low-carb lifestyle leads to a lowered desire for calorie
intake (which is true), and then saying that nobody has to worry about
calories. It doesn't work that way. As you progress through Atkins (not
sure about the other low-carb diets) it's just a real good idea to monitor
the calorie values of new foods in your diet. It's not about focusing on restricting calories, it's about seeing how many
calories you put into your diet when you change foods. Seems to me that's
common sense. -

1) one can lose weight with restricted fats (lot fat dieters do this, and
others too)
2) counting calories doesn't mean the greater percentage of one's calories
don't come from fat.:>
