Avocet cyclometer repair?

May be a stupid suggestion, but if you've gone 3 years of moving the
computer between 4 bikes, it could just be that your battery is dead.
I would assume that pressing a button draws extra current, which might
be why your display goes out when pressing a button, but returns
after.

I'd pass on the glue. If you need to get in there again, then you'll
definitely have to buy a new computer.

If your bike computer is that important to you, why not buy an extra? Avocet
has not changed their computer mounts, so a newer computer will fit your
existing mounts.

I have three Avocets, one 35, two 45's all not working. I stopped off at
Palo Alto Bicycles since they have Avocet access and I work a few miles
away. They basically told me I'm "SOL" [censored] out of Luck. All of them
stopped around the 6000 mi. mark, regardless of a new battery or not.
Switched over to Sigma, and been a happy camper ever since, still ticking.

It was a few years ago, but AFAIK they still do repairs. Give them a

Do you suppose this is another case of a store employee being a jerk? I had
an experience something like that at Performance Bicycles in San Rafael.
The salesman told me I had to buy a whole blister pack chain cleaner with
cleaning fluid in order to get more fluid. It sounded so dumb to me that I
just left. I like the store and the other employees so well that I still go
there--I notice that he's not around anymore. I think I know why.

PA bicycles is very nice to me and I have observe they are generally nice to
all their customers, so I not sure what to make of this. I guess they
wanted me to buy another Avocet cyclometer. I'm glad for Mike's tip because
I almost chucked those Avocets.
