I will not even go into the list of what I always have on hand in the
deep freeze. What does everyone else keep on hand all of the time?
I watch the sales and if one of my 'regular' items is on sale at a
good price, I'll buy it. I watch the dates on the items such as mayo
    and salad dressings.

Chocolate, unsalted butter, walnuts, almond extract -- all for making my
famous brownies. (OK, butter's not in the pantry.) Rice (maybe three
kinds), barley, pastas, canned soups, crackers. Dried fruits. Wild
    rice.

Oooh, I keep wild rice on hand, too. And barley (for soups and pilaf).

Sending the cops your way to confiscate your grass... don't pay attention to
the fact that the female cop is wearing bluejeans and a t-shirt. She's a
cop, I promise. Just hand over the grass and no one will get hurt <G>

I really lucked out a couple of weeks ago. A local gourmet shop with bulk
bins for select items had their semi-annual "clearance" sale. Among other
things I bought 15 pounds of premium very long wild rice at $1.99/lb. I
vacuum packed it in small portions and put in the freezer. Made wild rice
soup the day after I bought it and it's really first rate.

I adore wild rice soup! That's some good stuff. Gotta put that on the
    "must do" list again soon.

Not me, Kiddo. LOL. I'm from an era where I feared my mother's wrath
far more than the law's. She woldn't let me be a trollop and she
would have killed us if we'd ever messed with dope. You're probably too
young to remember that it used to be called dope.
