  1. Myself, Ess and TimC today.. where were the rest of you!? Cold cold damn
cold..my full fingered 'thermal' gloves stopped the wind, but not much of
the cold.. Almost thawed out by Kangaroo Ground.. the downhills confirmed it
is now time to get an ear warmer headband thingy - http://tinyurl.com/9utwc

Riding up to the KG waiting point I heard something stick to my tyre and go
around and around.. Waiting at top, I spot a staple my the front wheel..
pointing it out to Ess I say "how far you think that is in?".. Ess "not
that far, you'll be right"... I rip it out.. hisssssssSssss.. arh well, time
to test these self adhesive patches.. stick one on and off we go.. I get as
far as the Clintons Rd turn off and the front is flat again.. maybe these
patches have instructions I should have read?. pump it up again and it
lasts all the way to the Smiths Gully store.. $7.50 for a new tube was a
fair price, so I stick that in while munching away..

Another small bunch (4-5?) arrive at the same time who were on their way
home from a Kinglake ride. Sun was finally out and we had a nice uneventful
ride back into the city.. discounting TimC's lively drink bottle that wanted
to be free, and a few close encounters of the car kind.. (fuggin 4WDs!)...

86kms all up for me today.. never seems like enough kms for the effort put
    in...thanks to those hills!..

    cheers,
    GPL

I was pretty clumsy today. A few incidents -- chain got stuck, spent
a minute or two trying to free it - it became rather wedged.

After the kangaroo ground rest, I decided to go the long way, since on
Alternative Monday, I went the long way reverse (or was it only the
semi long way?). There was a lot of fog around, so I attempted to
turn my light on. I only suceeded in loosening it, so I heard some
flapping, and then a crash as it fell into the gravel. GPL and ess
were going pretty fast, and I didn't want to lose them, so I almost
thought about just ditching the light. Then I remembered what it cost
for such a tiny 3 LED light, and how much I still use it despite
having a halogen globe, and went back to retrieve it. Never mind, GPL
was busy pumping up his tyre by the time I got to them at Clintons
    road.

I was told that hill was a bugger. It was easy! OK, long, but mostly
easyish. Still, I was definitely lost in the trail of dust 🙂

    Then the water bottle.

Anyway, this is just me coming up with excuses for each time I dropped
    off the back 🙂

Arms got a good workout with all the standing I was doing today. We
ended up being 45 minutes slower (or is that something I am not
allowed to say? 🙂 than my last time though, by the time I got back to
work, which I can't quite work out where they came from.

That hill into Kew from Chandlers Hwy is a bugger after all that. I
went a slightly different (and easier, despite getting lost) way back
    to Hawthorn last time.

True to your words -- I have to go home to sleep, or similar -- I got
to work, ate all the food I could find, read some emails, then lay
back in my chair, listening to Pink Floyd, dozing in and out of sleep.

    I'm starving.

Mothers Day duties all day. Was caught sighing on the way to one of the
duties this morning as I watched a few cyclists riding along in the sun,
and asked "you'd rather be out there riding, wouldn't you?", ermm
yes?? Oh well have to wait till next week.
