It sure can, but that's why they put clearcoat on it, which has plenty of UV
protection.

Matt: As I understand it, UV protection can be built right into the epoxy
matrix. It doesn't have to be a coating.

This is true. It's actually a cost/benefit thing, depending on how much UV
protection is needed.
