Bonuses have given Nazon a 4" lead over McGee for Yellow. The only obstacle: B-la-B rider Anthony Geslin in a solo break.
The chase gets serious with 50 Km to go and a 3'25" deficit. Plenty of time in most chases...
With 30 Km to got, Geslin remains 2'40" ahead. At that rate JD catches him 40 Km *after* the finish.
I was in a small break a few years ago and my teamates said they knew it would stick when a local team, whom I shall not name, took up the chase.
BTW, Jean Delatour will ultimately succeed since the sprinters' teams will do the heavy lifting. All they have to do is keep it close.
As an aside, this is an example of why people's fantasies of the entire peloton ganging up on LANCE will not materialize. Everyone has their own agenda to fill first - in this case it is Jean Delatour attempting to justify their inclusion.
