from a couple of years ago, when many bike shops had every saddle tilted
down. It seems that that was triggered by only one well-publicized
"study," if I remember correctly. We do still have many cut-out
saddles, though, which were developed in that period.
I've read some complaints that the cut-out saddles make it feel as though
one is riding on a pair of ridges. I've no idea how that's possible,
though, at least on my Selle Italia - your sit bones rest behind the
cutout, not astride it, and there's no reinforcing that adds vertical
stiffness to the edges of the cutout. That is, if you press down on the
edges of the cutout with your thumb, there's no ridge to be felt.
