  1. I am not aware of any credible studies that found that we are in fact
lacking in fluoride. All we have is very poorly done studies, most
coming from the 1940's (very, very poor science, if you can call it
science at all), that indicate that fluoride increases tooth hardness.
And no science exists to show that our teeth were too soft to begin
    with.

Dental caries are a direct result of refined carb consumption. To
presume to treat caries with fluoride is to ignore simple common sense.
Cutting out refined carbs will be infinitely more effective than adding
a poison, errrr "medication" to the water supplies.

Fluoride originated from the aluminum industry as a waste product. Then
it was quickly discovered to be a toxic waste product. It etches glass.
The fluoride in the air at aluminum smelters etched the glass in the
plant. A modern aluminum smelter requires a 5 mile buffer zone, because
the fluoride kills off or damages plant and animal life for up to 5
miles from the plant. Today, the fertilizer industry produces a vast
    amount of fluoride.

Fluoride was used as a pesticide against rodents and an insecticide
against roaches and ants. It is a corrosive flux ingredient used in
    welding and soldering.

Fluoride has been described by Dr. Charles A. Brusch, former director
of the Massachusetts Medical Center in Cambridge, as a "highly toxic
protoplasmic poison that is 15 times stronger than arsenic." The U.S.
Dispensary, 24th edition (used by pharmacists) states further that
"fluorides are violent poisons to all living tissue because of their
precipitation of calcium. They cause a fall in blood pressure,
respiratory failure and general paralysis. Continuous ingestion of
nonfatal doses (as in the water supply and fluoride in toothpaste)
causes permanent inhibition of growth." Calcium metabolism is also
affected by fluorine. Since bone picks up 30 percent less calcium in
the presence of fluorine, it produces an increasing level of
    osteoporosis.

Hell of a way to get rid of a toxic waste. Add it to the water system
in small amounts and ascribe to it some nebulous pseudo-useful
attribute. Eventually there is so much fluoride in the entire
ecological system that you can't blame the aluminum and the fertilizer
industries for poisoning the environment. As despicable as it is, it is
    pretty damned creative.

  2. And this has exactly what to do with LC? Or are you just starting to
post more off topic [censored] now like Chung?

Just starting? Have you not been paying attention? Off-topic [censored] is his
    middle name!

  4. Actually, my sincere apologies. I usually place OT in the header and
forgot to do so this time.

Putting OT in the header doesn't make it OK to start threads in this
newsgroup that have nothing to do with LC.

Based on whose rules. Newsgroups are the epitome of free speech. Are
you trying to censor your fellow man in a newsgroup? Here is a hint: It
    ain't gonna work.

LC involves nutrition. Some people consider fluoride a nutritionally
beneficial substance, others consider it a poison. It all relates to
the general concept of nutrition. Ergo, some people in this group may
find it of interest, hence my post.

I don't think you even understand what free speech is and
how it is applicable to this group or any other forum.

  7. "Based on whose rules. Newsgroups are the epitome of free speech. Are
you trying to censor your fellow man in a newsgroup?"

No, just expecting some common sense and respect for the newsgroup
topic. Apparently that is too much to ask for in your case.
Following that logic, you could post that [censored] anywhere, because
everyone reading any newsgroup drinks water. Water flouridation has
zippo to do with LC, period.

  8. "I don't think you even understand what free speech is and
how it is applicable to this group or any other forum."

And I think you're one of the clowns that likes to bring up the first
amendment free speech issue and wave it around when it has nothing to
do with the topic at hand. This isn't an issue of free speech, it's an
issue of posting in appropriate newsgroups. I'm sure if you look, you
can find plenty of newgroups related to health where a post about the
evils of fluoride would be on topic and that's where it belongs. If
everyone started threads that were totally off topic, like this one,
newgroups would be chaos. Fortunately, some of us have some common
    courtesy left.

  9. I believe that there is some interest on this topic in this newsgroup.
You don't. There is an easy solution to this problem. Ignore the posts
that do not interest you. Problem resolved.

Maybe you should take a look at all the discussion that has followed
your "interesting post". Not a single comment has been made about the
flouride post itself, so apparently it actually isn't of any interest
But two posters, myself included, have said it's off topic, which it
    is.

  12. Some people are satisfied to read a post, note the point being made,
and carry on with their lives.

Unlike you jackasses who feel they ought to comment on EVERYTHING being
posted whether they have something useful to add or not.

If you don't like the post, ignore it.

  13. Yes, you made your great points about the evils of flouride and
American beef. Now, isn't it about time you went out and tipped over
your cows, you spamming Canadian clown?

  14. I don't think bashing Canadians is the answer here.
