I need tire help.

The 700x32C will probably fit, as will the 37-38C. Or pick up the phone
and call your LBS(s) -- if they sell hybrids, they'll probably have
hybrid tires in stock.

Schwalbe Marathons will do you right, if they're too expensive for you
look for something between 32-38 wide with thick (not necessarily
aggressive) tread to keep as much distance between the road and your
tubes. Tons of stuff to choose from.

I always get what was on sale for my city bikes as long as it's in the
ball park as far as tread and width. I've had the most flats with
Continentals and the fewest with Michelins--which is probably just dumb
luck. :P

I tried the LBS where I bought the bike and they did not have any
tires in this size. There are many shops around and I've checked a few
local ones. Much to my surprise they don't seem to carry a large
variety of tires. I want a good selection so I can get a tough one.
I'm tired of flats.

I've begun inspecting the tires at the end of each ride but it is
tough to find the little piece of glass which is going to cause a
problem down the road. I don't mind paying for a better tire that will
resist glass. That is a major problem lately. The streets are just
littered with glass.

I like the Panaracer description but the Vredestien looks nice as
well. Is there a difference between 35 and 35C?

Opinions? Other options? I don't see Continentals or Michelins at

I guess I would get two and replace both tires at once?

Just about the only thing that stops my lurking are tire discussions, and I always say the same thing:
Continental Top Touring 2000

And if you _really_ want to eliminate punctures, insert tire liners (eg. Mr Tuffy).

I've used those before, they ride really nicely. Never got a flat with
them, but the sidewalls can get grubby looking and are somewhat fragile
compared to other urban tires. Can't beat the price.

I had a pair of Michelins that looked identical to those, no longer made,
called the "Idylis". Perfect city tires as they could go anywhere and
weren't bad in the snow.

The Paselas are adored by most folks that use them. Good ride,
durability, and puncture protection. Can't go wrong with those.

I've got a soft spot for Vredesteins simply because I love how the name
sounds. LoL Those look to be the sturdiest of the bunch, and have
reflective sidewalls which is what would sell me on them--it can be real
lifesaver.

No bad choices listed there, but I'd go for either the Performance
Speedtracs or Vredesteins if it were my bike, but your needs may be
different.

They look nice. But 75-100 psi? That is much higher than the other
tires. A hard ride maybe?

Ok, I ordered the Vredesteins. Plus two new tubes. HURRY! A flatless
summer coming up. I wouldn't bet on it.

I would, those Vredesteins have pretty uber belts in them, so unless you
have a lot of big ass thorns or nails in your area, you should be fine.

Keep the tire pressure within the suggested range and you'll be fine. 🙂

No clue...maybe they roll better and seem faster?

nashbar.com has comfort tires in 35 for $5.95 each. I have the the
32's on my 'cross bike until my CX tires arrive. Rode over the same
glass that cut my michelins open with no problem. At 80 psi they roll
quietly and pretty quickly.

Most lbs's just plain suck when it comes to replacement / upgrade
parts. They only way to get a good selection is mail order. The best
lbs's are those owned by mail order places- supergo, performance etc.
LBS's sell bikes and fix them for those who cant or wont try it
themselves.

Bad LBS. Call around - one the ones I called didn't have a 700x32c,
but they did have a 35. Guess where I spent the money?
