"I was very disappointed because I rather liked
Tyler," Ligget said. "I think he's been a remarkable
athlete in our sport. But he's now been proven to
have taken the blood change and that's not in the
nature of the sport. You've got to throw out cheats
and I'm glad that they've caught him."

    ------------

What will Phil Liggett say if Tyler's decision is
reversed - 'Sorry Tyler?' Talk about a fair-weather
    friend.

    Thanks,

    Magilla

Is that what Mrs. Liggett should do when she finds out what was really
going on behind the OLN set between Ms. Gum and Phil?

  3. phil usually has the inside track. he is in fact the nicest person i have ever met in broadcasting. the bottom line is that tyler is caught and even if he accomplishes an o.j. the facts are the facts. while we were at le tour last year i was told by a reputable source that tylers coach told him to retire because he was sure that he couldn't pass doping control and it would be better to leave than get caught.
i saw phil yesterday at the start of the tour de georgia but he was going back to europe last night. he came back just for lances press conference which he and paul covered from new york. paul flew back immediately and phil flew down to augusta just for the day. talk about logging some miles. he is back in france by now. he befriended us at last years tour and made sure that we were hooked up for the entire event. not many folks will pull a couple of rednecks from georgia out of the crowd and bring them into the broadast booth. he is the most genuinely nice person i have ever met in the international press.

Egad! Bob Roll is apparently practicing for a third
    career as a runway model.

I had a brief encounter with Phil this past October's Interbike. I bumped into
him in the elevator in the hotel. I said hello and he was happy to talk about
cycling for the minute or so we were in the elevator.

  8. phil did go back to europe AFTER he came down to augusta for day one of the
tour of georgia. my source is a very good friend that was a former captain
of the u.s. cycling team and retired off a international pro team recently.
he caled me on my cell the day of the la mongie stage to tell me tyler was
going to drop out of the tour then it happened. anytime i get info that is
so dead on i have a tendency to think it is reliable. you don't have to
trust my source but in dozens of situations like this he has always been
    correct.

    this years tour de georgia.

  9. Even Bob is too sexy for those butt-ugly shirts L.L. Bean is providing.
Maybe it's those long Maine winters that made LL design those ugly
    colors and ill-fitting shirts.

  10. Judging from Phil's attire, it looks like he was assigned to do cleanup
duty after the stage. Of course, he is British....
