Happy Earth Day ...

I'm a liberal getting a little more conservative as I age. As such,
some of the relentless doom and gloom of the "eco-terrorists" (as the
right calls them) actually grate on me a little. So I enjoyed the
article but it's desire to scare the [censored] out of us at the expense of a
fact here and there bothered me. Are we in trouble with oil - yes. Is
it the end of our civilization? Maybe. Is that why George W. Bush
went into Iraq - to secure the second largest reserve of oil in the
World for his country - I believe so. Was that wrong? Morally, yes.

We can all wear wet suits in unheated pools. Of course wetsuits are
made with oil, distributed with oil, etc. How long does the pool have
to be turned off to recoup the oil used for the wetsuit? I guess
we're going to find out.

Officially there have been five big mass extinction events over the
past 540 million years so don't you think there will be another one and
human beings will become extinct no matter what you do about oil usage?

I just hope they know where the USA is, and doesnt accidently hit us,

Yeah, but the last one was 65 million years ago, and the one before
that was 200 million years ago. I'm not sure I want my children or
grandchildren to have to try and survive the next one. Especially one
of our own making.
