  1. i'm not happy with the performance of the brakes on my cannondale R900, and am considering upgrading. the brakes are cannondale's house-brand omega series; brake levers are campy veloce; wheels are gipiemme grecal parade.

the setup feels very "mushy", even compared to my old bike with 1990-vintage shimano 105 calipers/levers.

questions: would upgrading the brake pads give me better feel/performance? is it in the calipers? the levers? if an upgrade is in order, i'd like to stick with campy, probably centaur or chorus. any thoughts/recommendations? thx.

I have an R600 and updgraded the brakes to Ultergra. So much better than Cannondale brakes. I don't have experience with Campy, but I bet you'll notice a big difference.

When I was looking for a new bike the R800 was one of the bikes I was interested in, along with a Trek 2000. The Trek also had house brand brakes, but performed equal to my previous 105 brakes. I decided against the Cannondale strictly because I heard bad reviews about the Grecal Parade wheels and especially the Omega brakes.
