  1. Recently i was on a 75mile ride and towards the end of it - I started to get severe upper abdo generalised cramps. They were not colicky in nature but were made worse every time I had to put a hard effort in. They were not muscular and not associated with any symptoms of nausea, or diarrhoea. I am not sure what caused them. In the end I just had to get home.

I am usually comfortably complete 75mile rides (16mph average). I think that it may be due to low sodium as I have just returned from riding in a tropical country.

Any ideas what it could be? Low sodium, dehydration - and any tips on how to get rid of them.

Dehydration, low sodium, low potassium or possibly a poor pre-ride meal. I try to watch all of these carefully but still occaionally get the mystery cramp.
