This is only the second report in IIRC ten years, one killed, a farmer, one
injured. We kill *ten* people per day in road accidents, so a risk of two
people in ten years is so low that IMO it should be ignored.

I carry a stick, just wave it at them and they get the message.

Applies to any animal with calf that's dangerous enough to cause
damage.

Has anyone come across any wild boar yet ? The population's growing
apparently. I've seen a small one in my garden down here in Hampshire.

Rottweiller with calf sounds like a particularly lethal combination to
me. Crocodile too - that would be dangerous.

Yes, but in Oklahoma not these shores ;-)

They were quite impressive and I am glad that when I disturbed them I
was at the top of a small outcrop and they were at the bottom.

This story appeared in today's Stockport Express, and also mentioned a
case which happened a few weeks/months ago.
Both sustained rib injuries, and both were walking their dogs.....

Wow! I've never seen any. Where abouts are you ? Got loads of grey
squirrels though. Just when you think the population can't get any
bigger, it mushrooms. As for the boar, I was out sitting in the garden
and it emerged out of the woodland 20yrds away, too intent on foraging
to notice me. When it did, it squealed, wheeled around, and crashed
it's way back through the undergrowth (I'm almost surrounded by woods
and NT land). It was only a small one, I'd guess about 1 year old.

Looking out the window I can see the rabbits out sunbathing - rampant
nature around here ! Scares the holy bejesus out of any visitors that
have never heard a fox calling at night a few yrds from their bedroom
window <g> !
