Pre-diet
LDL 96 (range 0-150)
HDL 52 (range 40-55)
Chol 163 (range 100-220)
Triglyc 73 (range 0-200)
Today
LDL 110 (range 0-150)
HDL 57 (range 40-55)
Chol 177 (range 100-220)
Triglyc 52 (range 0-200)
It concerns me just a bit that my LDL has gone up in conjunction with my
Cholesterol. My HDL's are outside of the testing range, but it may be due
to my odd liver results. I also read that triglycerides can be elevated
with liver disease so I'm relieved to see them lower now than before. I
don't believe I have any real liver problems, but it never hurts to be
informed.
Your HDL/total cholesterol ratio is slightly improved, so I wouldn't worry
about the LDL. Also, your triglyceride/HDL ratio shows improvement in
insulin resistance, a result of lowering trigs and improved HDL.
The liver tests could possibly be a result of the type of fats in your diet,
maybe that's why the dr wanted you to try SB instead, I think saturated fat
can raise both HDL and LDL, MUFAs and PUFAs raise HDL and lower LDL.
Weight loss can give you gallstones, and that could raise your liver
enzymes. My DH had that, when they did an ultrasound they found a huge
stone blocking the duct. He had what he thought was gas pains sometimes but
it turned out to be his gallbladder. Usually if you have those serious
diseases mentioned in the web page your liver enzymes will be much more
elevated than yours.
