  1. As in, running downhill. Or, come to think of it, perhaps my aged
    body?
In any event, I can run on the flat and uphill. But even the slightest
negative grade kills my shins, or more specifically, just above the
ankles, front. Is there a generic explanation and , more importantly,
a way to overcome it? I don't run all that much to be honest, which
may be part of the problem, just one or two times a week (streets
around home) and shoes seem to be good. Any other info needed that
might help figure out the problem?
    Vic

  2. No help. But sympathies.
I have to watch out for my knees on downhills.
I do local streets about 3x/week; if I do a race I count that as one of my 3
    times.

  3. Downdill takes practice. you natural body position (vertical) sets
things up to make almost anyone a heal striker. \|

try leaning forward \/ so the foot strikes are closer to normal.
Swinging your arms higher helps too.

But if you run that seldom, it may take a LONG time for you to adjust.
    Try sticking to the flats.

    Good luck.

Hmmm, sounds hauntingly famaliar, especially if it is just above the ankle.
I had anterior tibialis tendonitis or ATSS (Anterior Tibialis Stress
Syndrome). Check out this link: http://tinyurl.com/6oy8w

If the link above is you, then ice, rest, NSAIDS, maybe a Dr. visit if it
doesn't start feeling better in about a week. Also, deep tissue massage as
outlined here by Oz may help - http://tinyurl.com/8j39p
