Rules and recommendations

Participation: The "La Randonnée du Centenaire" is open to anyone aged 13 and over (born before
1991), within a limit of 10,000 participants. There is no entry fee.

The event: The "La Randonnée du Centenaire" is a bicycle ride-along, in which riders will be
neither timed nor ranked. It is neither a race nor a competitive event. Participants will be given
no numbers.

How to enter: Entries will be taken in the order they come in, within the limit of 10,000. It is
imperative for under-18 applicants to return the parental consent form, duly filled in and signed.

Start: The "La Randonnée du Centenaire" will set off from the Pont d'Iena in Paris on Sunday July
27rd 2003, at 8.30 a.m.

Finish: The "La Randonnée du Centenaire" will end in the Champ de Mars, after a 30 km circuit
through the streets of Paris, within 3 hours from the starting time.

Safety mesures: The whole of the 30 km circuit will be under security and closed to motor vehicles.
Organizers are setting up medical assistance teams.

Protective helmets: Organizers strongly urge for participants to wear a protective helmet during the
whole ride.

Confirmation: the 10,000 participants will receive official confirmation that their entry has been
registered, as well as full details concerning the "La Randonnée du Centenaire".

Official Bibshorts: the 10,000 participants will each receive free bibshorts, in one of four models.
The Bibshort will bear the inscription "La Randonnée du Centenaire" as well as the Tour de France
2003 logo.

Official Bibshort Handout: An official Bibshort will be handed out to the 10,000 participants on the
day prior to the event, in the Tour Village which will be set up on the Champ de Mars in Paris, on
sole presentation of the bracelet. No bibshort shall be handed out on July 27rd.

Wearing of the Official Bibshort and bracelet: All participants in the "La Randonnée du Centenaire",
with no exception, are required to wear the Official Bibshort, as well as their bracelet.

Cycling equipment: All bicycles are eligible to enter the "La Randonnée du Centenaire", so long as
they pose no threat for other participants. Any equipment which fails to meet normal cycling
standards will be barred from participating; organizers withhold the right to bar any participant
from riding in the "La Randonnée du Centenaire", right until the starting time, if his bicycle
should fail to meet this standard.

Nothing, but nothing will mar my joy at doing this event. Especially as Vernon has managed to get us
