I'm less than 50 miles from there. There's only one stretch of north/south asphalt and it's very busy, to say the least. IMO, it's not a viable "touring" choice. Lots'a dirt though... and a few hot springs.

Hello Ken, Head on up Hwy 75 to the Wood River Valley; Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey, Belview and
Galena. Something like 45 miles of rails to trails and just plain trails for road bikes. Also the
folks there are most respectful of riders on the roads. And there are a lot. They are an important
part of the local economy. Can't go killing them off. The serious mountain biking is in a word
stupendous, it is fantastic, it is world-class... Over the 'Fourth' Holidays I was out for some
miles on both the Haluzak HR and my mtn bike. Had the good fortune of being among the first to ride
a new off road route; "The Old Toll Road". Starts at the Galens Lodge, 7300' and goes to the saddle
of Galena Summit at 8800'. Not very technical but your lungs will beg for mercy. Then you have the
choice of going back down the way you got up or taking the slightly longer Hwy 75 back down. Over
the years I have had several uprights and the HHR over this mountain. Your nerve is the only
limiting factor on the downhills. About 8 miles on either side. You aren't likely to win a fortune
in Jackpot, I seldom even get (m)any replays on the slots as we pass through to & from San
Francisco. Frank
