  7. Yes of course I believe it..

It is difficult for me just now as I have had joint replacement surgery and
excercise is impossible for me at the moment. Once I am fit again........
well... just now I have to be content with the most efficient diet I can
    find.

Welcome! My advice: Make sure you eat your 3 cups or more of veggies/day.
    It really helps!
Plus, read & post here... having an online support group dramatically
    increases your chances of success.
When I would feel tempted or ready to give up, I'd come read on here. What
I loved most was looking at people's progress pictures and seeing how people
were really making this work for them - it was a big motivator. Soon you
should start noticing improvements in your health energy, appetite
cessation, weight, etc. that will help give you another boost of motivation.
    Good luck!

If you're losing weight who cares if it's fast or slow, as long as
you're losing it. 1.125 lbs per week average isn't setting any records
but it's not a race either. Last time I checked 1 - 2 pounds per week is
recommended. Just what we need another JC in the crowd.

There can be MANY reasons why someone doesn't lose weight quickly. In
my case, I've been LC since May of 1998. I have a lot of weight to
lose, yet I've managed fewer than 50 lbs of it (I have more than twice
    that amount yet to lose).

However, I have a lot of medical issues that you probably don't have.
Some of them make it hugely difficult to lose weight. Some of the
meds I MUST take (or risk death) are notoriously bad for those trying
to lose. I also have sleep apnoea which makes it hard (although since
treatment it's become more possible). I keep on striving, but I
rarely see any 'success' in the sense of weight falling off. Health
    improvements, yes, but loss no.

Women find it more difficult than men to lose thanks to our hormonal
balance being geared towards 'keeping a reserve for the baby' even if
there's no plan to have a baby any time soon (or, like me, rather
drastic measures have been taken to ensure there WON'T be a baby).

I'm glad you've lost a lot of weight in a short space of time. That's
great for you. Please don't assume, though, that everyone will find
it as easy as you did. It is not always - and not always is the
reason in the hands of the dieter.

Wow... you lost 50lbs already????????? Congratulations!!!

I don't think it matters how long it takes so long as it is a steady pace
going in the right direction. I have always found it hard to lose weight.
I also have a meds issue but I hope that, like you, if I keep at it I will
win in the end. Health improvements are very important too.

    Thank you for sharing

You are by far the exception rather than the rule. Everyone's metabolism is
different; everyone loses at a different pace. Many are diabetic or insulin
resistant and lose more slowly. There are many health factors that can
affect weight loss such as thyroid and cortisol levels. 142 pounds in 8
months is very, very rare. Also, loss rate depends on sex, age and many
    other physical factors.

The average weight loss for low carb after the initial few weeks seems to be
about a pound to a pound and a half per week (I'm basing this on my
observations from being a long-time poster here). It doesn't help anyone to
rub their nose in a nearly impossible goal set by someone who happened to be
incredibly lucky to be blessed by the right genetics combinations that put
them at the top of the bell curve.

I hate to say this, but you just came across sounding a bit like JC.
