  1. Too much time sat at a desk is leaving me with stiff hip flexors...sadly,
they can also start to give me problems half way through a walk, too.

Any one know of any decent stretches for them that can either be done at
home or half-way through a walk? All information gratefully received,
though as I'm not and never have been especially flexible, I'm not promising
to get into every position you might suggest...

    ....as it were.

  3. Try and do some deep massage on the area, also consider streches for your
    "iliotibial band"

  4. For my sins as well as walking I'm in training for a 10km (not fast -
if I do it in 70 minutes I will be pleased.)

    A colleague recommended

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0936070226/qid=1113565938/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_0/202-9742629-0134245

I brought and I'm finding it really useful - simple diagrams - and
plenty of instruction on how to, taking into account real people!
(Rather than those that can do lotus position.)

In case link does not work look for

Stretching by Bob Anderson - 20th edition

    HTH

    Jackie

PS they also do a separate book (I haven't brought (yet)) for office
stretches, with some software on CD to remind you when and what and how
    to stretch.
