    German sprinter Hondo sacked after positive B-sample

    PARIS, April 14 (Reuters) - German rider Danilo Hondo was sacked
    by the Geroslteiner team on Thursday after his failed dope test at the Tour
    of Murcia last month was confirmed by the B-sample.

    Hondo, who won the first two stages of the race in Spain, tested
    for the stimulant carphedon.

    Gerolsteiner said on their website that they were complying with
    the new code of ethics of the International Cycling Union (UCI) Pro Tour by
    sacking the 31-year-old sprinter.

    "Team Gerolsteiner put an end to their contract with Danilo
    Hondo after being informed by the UCI that the result of the test on his B
    sample was also positive," Gerolsteiner said in a statement.

    His contract had been due to run until December 31, 2005.

    Hondo, German champion in 2002, also finished second to Italy's
    Alessandro Petacchi in the Milan-San Remo classic on March 19.

    Pursuit world champion with Germany in 1994 as an amateur, Hondo
    was seen as Germany's second best sprinter behind Erik Zabel.

    That is a good question, as it seems that UCI wankerz haven't fully grasped
    the of out-of-(real-)competition 'preparation' (and testing) yet, and only
    seem to strip results and titles when found guilty in that specific
    competition.

    He tested positive (two A samples) for "a stimulant" in Murcia which was
    early March, before either of the PT races he scored in:
    He got 40 points for 2nd in M-SR, and 30 points for 4th on GC of T-A.
    His positive results were reported in early April at which time he was
    suspended.

    If they move each rider below Hondo up one place in T-A and M-SR for scoring
    purposes, Boonen, Freire, Hincapie, Hushovd, Klier, O'Grady, and a few
    others would each have 5 more points but the overall rankings in the top 20
    or so wouldn't change.

    I'd guess that's what they'll do: strip Hondo's placings and points and move
    everybody else up a notch.

    Yeah, he's got sort of sharp knees, and a bit of reddish skin behing
    his clavicles, and wins some weeks and not others. It's was so
    obvious.
