I was looking for a good book, nothing too technical but straight to the point as I am just learning to fix/repair my bike. I need a book with lots of photos showing step by step what to do, however I did find this book on amazon Mountain Bike Maintenance: The Illustrated Manual Melanie Allwood, Mel Allwood - it had 2 good reviews compare with some of the the other books available. Has anyone used this book? or maybe any ideas of any other book that would do.

I don't know the above book, but take a look at the Haynes manuals too. They have lots of step-by-step photos

Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance.
Highly recommended. Detailed step-by-step instructions and copious illustrations of just about anything including some very obscure bits of kit.

I've got the/a Mel Allwood book (http://tinyurl.com/5rvma), and quite like it. The photos are excellent and the bikes in them extremely clean. The photos aren't really step-by-step, but the accompanying text is clear and well-written - even bedtime reading. It's a shame it's not a hardback.
